Fighting stigma starts with us being conscious of how we view and speak about mental health. We can support those who are struggling by changing the tone of the workplace and social discussions on the topic and showing compassion. #Employers — what resources do you currently offer to support mental health in the workplace? Lean into education to ensure your people know (and are comfortable with) the benefits that can elevate their mental health. #Employees — take some time to familiarize yourself with the coverage you have for mental health services. Talk to your benefits administrator about your EAP and don’t be afraid to ask questions and identify every component of your plan that can support you. 🔗https://lnkd.in/gtKmVhmr

Interested in Insurance & Wellness. Assisting clients by providing insight, recommendations & oversight to planning & prioritizing benefit packages & employee resources. Fellow Nerd, Lover of animals & coffee.

This morning, I along with a handful of Apex Benefits colleagues, participated in an internal watch party to learn about Organizational Adaptability as part of a trueU Timeout session focused on Company Culture, led by Rebekah Rush. During the session we learned about and discussed: -Principles of EcoHarmonix-understanding how natural ecosystem dynamics can inform and enhance organizational adaptability. -Beyond Change Management-transitioning from traditional change management practices to a holistic, adaptable ecosystem approach. -Cultivating Resilience & Innovation-strategies for building a resilient organizational culture that embraces change and fosters continuous innovation. -Navigating Complexity-tools for mapping and understanding your organization’s ecosystem to better anticipate, adapt to, and capitalize on changes. We had a really good discussion during and after the session and while some may disagree, I feel that it's good to be in a room full of people who are both alike and different, when it comes to personality and working styles, (shout out to Disc Profiles and Working Genius strengths & frustrations). //Disc - Di / WG-WI/IW aka The Creative Dreamer #IYKYK 😉// These assessments and tools help us determine communication styles, what our strengths and weaknesses are, where we thrive best on a team, and how to empower others to work towards building a lasting impact. We all know change is hard but unfortunately inevitable, especially in our industry (Insurance). Being equipped with the right tools and people can help make those changes a little easier. One of the things that really resonated with me, was when she introduced CLIMB and how it applied both personally and professionally. Being your best authentic self-first and using that to help empower the organization through growth and change. I think my personal favorite piece of the model is Resist the Wind. Say it. Live it. Be Weird! We truly value our partnership with trueU and Karina Platacis and always look forward to the sessions. It gives Apex Benefits powerful tools and resources we can use both personally and professionally, to ensure that our company culture is top notch. Would love to see some dialogue below on how you handle change, or how you have championed yourself to empower change, lead with intention, been impactful, and inspired the same in others. Also, if you have a Disc or Working Genius profile, drop those below too. If not, and you have used similar assessments, would love to see those too. Do you resonate with your results? #TeamApex #CompanyCulture #TrueU

I always look forward to trueU events, but this morning's topic was a truly special one for me discussing Substance Use Disorder. It's a beautiful thing to see others open themselves up and share the parts of their lives that have made them who they are today. This was extra special as it's a very important topic to my parents - together they lead a group class for people that have family members affected by substance use and my stepdad recently started as a substance abuse counselor helping those that are directly affected - and my mom got to join this session online! Thank you to trueU for hosting (and sharing your own stories) and special thanks to Karina Platacis and Marisa Anderson for not making me take a picture on my own! 😊 Hopefully next time I'll have more of my Apex Benefits teammates to join me!

In honor of Mother’s Day weekend approaching and May being Foster Care Awareness Month… *cue the tears*   Last night I went to support my daughter at the conclusion of the three-part WHS Innovation Competition.    Out of over 60 teams, her team was one of five remaining, where they competed in a live Shark Tank-style finale.    These presentations absolutely blew me away in their creativity, presentation skills, and pitch.   Five amazing investors from around Hamilton county judged the competition and ultimately awarded $5,000 in seed money for these young entrepreneurs to continue making their dreams a reality.    Birch Dalton, EdgeRock Development Danica L. Eyler, Webster & Garino LLC Eric Huebner, Certus Medical Jeff Magginnis, Community First Bank of Indiana Curt Whitesell, WKRP Real Estate   Watching City of Westfield, Indiana and Westfield Chamber of Commerce come together to support Westfield Washington Schools students was simply inspiring.    While it might not be a large investment to these folks, I watched it put a spark in my daughter that will forever change her trajectory.    Little did these Sharks know then the person behind the product they were investing in.    The fact my girl was standing on that stage, let alone WINNING the competition with every single Shark investing in her product... unimaginable.   I could write a novel about where she started two years ago (in foster care), but honestly these videos from our final court hearing summarize it best:   https://lnkd.in/eD7gcTem   https://lnkd.in/eQJTccXv   It’s no coincidence that her Entrepreneurship teacher, John Moore, was in the court room with us that day. Because this class and this teacher saved her life before I even knew her name.    It gave her a purpose to dream, to create, and to live- despite horrible circumstances happening outside those school walls.    Thank you from the bottom of this momma’s heart for a night that will stick with me (and her) forever. And thank you to one of my favorite entrepreneurs, John F. Gause, who has given me a means to create these special moments.    #innovation #entrepreneurship #future #fostercare
