Date: 8/24/2017 Time: 5:00 PM Compass Park Community Center Franklin, IN 46131 Phone: 317-560-1707 Event Description: 4th Annual Dining in the Dark – Coming to Johnson County August 24th On August 24, Johnson County Senior Services a not- for- profit agency will bring an extraordinary event to Franklin. The three-course gourmet meal, served in complete pitch-black darkness will allow you to get in touch with all of your senses as you savor the smell and taste of your dining experience. Music and conversation will become more intimate and immediate. Sensations will be stimulated. It will expand your imagination and understanding of what individuals who are visually impaired experience throughout their lives. The event is also to raise awareness to the increasing number of older adults that are simply out of sight, out of mind and are suffering in silence. In addition to giving guest a whole new way to think about darkness, vision, power of perception, it will also bring awareness about a generation with many unmet needs. Johnson County Seniors Services is the only free door to door transportation service in the entire county for older adults. Funds raised at the Dining in the Dark event will “light up” the lives of the clients they serve by providing additional transportation to those on a waiting list as well as continuing to provide many with the free essential services that will enhance their quality of life. Johnson County Senior Services also maintains a Food Pantry and delivers food to seniors in need and at risk, as well as providing free Durable Medical Equipment, Christmas gifts, and Information & Assistance.
